Frequently Asked Questions
A duel carpet edging strip, also known as a double naplock, is a metal installation fitted between doorways that joins two carpets together.
The duel carpet edging strip consists of a base with serrated pins on either side and a raised solid metal door bar running along the centre of the strip.
The base fits under both carpets, with the serrated pins gripping them and keeping them firmly in place. Whereas the door bar is visible, hiding the carpet edges from sight and preventing fraying.
Once installed, our carpet edging strips offer a premium finish to any new carpet fitting – if you’d benefit from tailored advice on which product is best for you, feel free to message our team or call them on 020 8037 6557
Here at Tradepriced, we stock an extensive range of carpet metals that are extremely simple to install. Our various stick-down door plates have an incredibly convenient self-adhesive strip – all you need to do is peel and stick! Or, if you’d rather have a more permanent option, our screw-in carpet door plates are very easy to fit.
Here are three simple steps for installing this type of carpet metal:
1. Prep your doorframe
Firstly, carefully remove the door from its frame to provide plenty more space to fit your door plate accurately. Vacuum the area to ensure any dirt or dust is removed and the plate will be laid evenly.
2. Secure your carpet door plate
After checking for cables that may run under the flooring where you’ll be drilling, it’s time to mark out where you’ll drill the screw holes into your subfloor.
Position your carpet plate into place across the centre of the joint between the carpets and mark the screw openings clearly with a pencil – then, make small pilot holes using your drill.
Finally, line the carpet metal up with the holes and screw each into place tightly using your drill.

Although not a legal requirement, if you own commercial premises, you can help to make your stairs safer and reduce accidents with stair edge nosing.
As a responsible business owner, considering the health and safety of your employees and customers should be your main priority. If your building experiences heavy foot traffic, you should install stair nosings on each step that makes up a flight of stairs.
Stair nosings offer an anti-slip edge to your steps, increasing the foot grip stair users have whilst using your staircase.
What’s more, they add protection to your stairs and stop the edges from wearing or chipping!
