After checking for cables that may run under the flooring where you’ll be drilling, it’s time to mark out where you’ll drill the screw holes into your subfloor.

Position your carpet plate into place across the centre of the joint between the carpets and mark the screw openings clearly with a pencil – then, make small pilot holes using your drill.

Finally, line the carpet metal up with the holes and screw each into place tightly using your drill.
